Crypto casino Stake announces Nublense sponsorship but exits UK market

A leading crypto casino has become the new shirt sponsor for a top Chilean football team.

Nublense will have their shirts featuring the name of Stake.com after sealing a deal with the crypto casino and sports betting site.

The Chilean Primera Division side made it to the final of the Copa Chile cup competition last term and will therefore be playing in the Copa Libertadores in 2025.

Stake has half a dozen sports sponsorships of this nature spanning teams all over the world, including the English Premier League club Everton and the F1 team Sauber.

Nikkita Thomas, the crypto casino site’s head of sponsorship, said: “Nublense are a fantastic club, with a rich history and great fan base. We saw a real underdog story last season as they made it to the final of Copa Chile, and their involvement in the Copa Libertadores is something we are very excited about.

“We are really passionate about expanding our footprint across Latin America, and to be a partner with one of Chile’s most prestigious teams is something we are proud of.”

The 2025 season will be a historic one for Nublense – formed back in 1916 – as it will only be the second time that the Chilean club has featured in the Copa Libertadores tournament.

Francisco Mardones, the club’s general manager, said: “We are very pleased to start this agreement with Stake, a brand that shares our passion for football and innovation.

“This sponsorship will allow our club to continue its growth, reaching new audiences and offering more experiences to our fans.”

News of Stake sponsoring Nublense – who play their home games at 12,000-capacity ground the Estadio Municipal Nelson Oyarzun Arenas – comes a short time after the crypto casino and sports betting site announced its exit from the UK market. The Easygo-owned betting operator said it would be focusing its business on other locations in Europe and further afield as a result.

Its statement said: “Stake has made a strategic decision in mutual agreement with TGP Europe to exit white-label agreements and focus on securing local licences through our in-house platform and operations, building upon our growth in key regulated markets such as our recent expansions into Italy and Brazil.”

Australia-based Stake’s decision to pull out of the UK market followed the news that the company was being investigated over a social media strategy that appeared to see influencers such as the internet adult star Bonnie Blue paid to promote the firm.
