Crypto casino founder predicts positive regulation changes
The co-founder of a leading crypto casino has predicted a highly positive future for the sector due to incoming expected regulation changes from some of the world’s most important markets.
Donald Trump’s victory in this year’s US presidential election is widely expected to see America take a more pro-crypto viewpoint in the coming years.
Trump is on record as being in favour of welcoming cryptocurrency and the value of Bitcoin rocketed in the wake of his election win, topping $100,000 for the first time ever, though its price continues to be typically volatile.
Ishan Haque, who is a member of the founding team of crypto casino site Shuffle.com, thinks regulation changes are just around the corner. Speaking in a recent Waterhouse VC webinar, he said: “I think crypto regulation, in a positive way, is coming sooner than most people think.”
While some countries have closed the door on crypto regulations, others have a far more open approach to the developing technology, according to the crypto casino executive.
Haque added: “There may be some countries that might take a more harsh approach, but you know, the United States, Hong Kong, and Singapore are very pro-crypto. As a whole, I think the major powers of the world are shifting towards adopting crypto. It’s the way things are going.”
Regulation changes are set to pose a problem for some crypto casino operators, though, as rules are likely to be very different from one nation to the next.
While Brazil has allowed crypto casinos to operate, Haque singled out the country as one where the legislative picture is particularly complex.
“The licensing structures in Brazil are more complex, which raises the barrier to entry. That’s one of the reasons we’re not there yet,” he said.
The Shuffle representative highlighted the success of Blaze, which is one of Brazil’s major crypto and fiat operators, as an example for other companies to follow in the near future.
Crypto casinos often use social media influencers to promote their sites, with Haque noting how the teams running operators often have a gaming or social media background.
“It’s primarily crypto casinos that have succeeded in this area,” he said. “Many of the crypto casino operators were gamers before, or grew up playing video games.
“We all worked with influencers before starting these crypto casinos, so it made sense that we’d be the ones to use this as a marketing channel.”
